- Acorn Launches Lotus Challenge, Release Date 19th February 1993
-
- Acorn Computers has teamed up with Lotus Cars to launch a major new
- promotion aimed at the Consumer marketplace.
-
- The promotion, which runs between 15th March 1993 and 31st August 1993,
- comes in three main sections: a high performance customer challenge, a
- specially bundled "Turbo Pack" computer, and major promotional support for
- dealers.
-
- Customers will be encouraged to compete in a special competition version of
- the popular game Lotus Turbo Challenge II and will get the chance of winning
- one of a limited set of 1/36th scale models of the Lotus Elan or Esprit.
-
- Four regional winners will receive a trip around the Lotus factory and a
- chance to test drive the new Lotus Esprit. They will then go forward to the
- national final where the overall winner will receive an all expenses paid
- trip to the Italian Grand Prix in September with a special pass to the Lotus
- Formula 1 Team pits.
-
- To coincide with the Lotus Turbo Challenge, Acorn is producing a limited
- edition A3010 Family Turbo Pack which contains an A3010 32-bit RISC
- computer, a Lotus Turbo Challenge game, a Quickshot joystick, one year's
- on-site maintenance and #200 worth of software discount vouchers, all for

-
- Dealers participating in the scheme will also receive assistance from Acorn
- with their advertising and promotional programmes, in the form of special
- competition software, prizes, posters and other display merchandising, help
- with editorial and advertising material and the chance for the best
- performing dealer to join the competition prizewinner at the Italian Grand
- Prix in September.
-
- Acorn's Consumer Marketing Manager, Simon Lovesey said "With a greater
- number of Acorn dealers increasing their activity in the consumer
- marketplace, we strongly believe in the importance of providing high profile
- promotions along the lines of the Turbo Challenge to provide dealers with
